Rust Proof Spray for the People Who Pull the Trigger

Material, rig support, and wholesale pricing for professional applicators. OR93BL and Flak Jacket polyurea ship in kits and drums, run on standard plural-component equipment, and turn a bay over the same shift. If you spray for a living — or you are working out whether to start — this is written for you.

What Applicators Actually Care About

It Runs the Way the Sheet Says

Ratio stability across ambient swings, predictable viscosity at hose temperature, and a gel window that does not drift halfway through a drum. A material that behaves differently at 40°F than it did in the lab costs you a reshoot, and reshoots are where a job's margin goes.

Throughput You Can Quote Against

An E-30 class rig running OR93BL will move real square footage per hour at a 40-mil spec once masking is done. We will give you honest production figures for your equipment rather than a brochure number you cannot hit on a job site.

Somebody Answers the Phone Mid-Job

Off-ratio material, a mix chamber that keeps loading up, an unexpected substrate — these happen at 7 a.m. on a Saturday. We support jobs while they are running, not just at the quote stage.

Wholesale Pricing and Private Label

Volume schedules for applicators and distributors, drum and kit availability, nationwide freight. If you want the material carried under your own name, every Oak Ridge product is available private-label as WatchGuard.

Work Applicators Bid With This Material

Rust proof spray is one capability that opens several revenue lines — most crews run three or four of these.

  • Sprayed bed liners & underbodies
  • Fleet frame & trailer coating
  • Fabrication shop contract coating
  • Plant maintenance overcoating
  • Metal roof & envelope coating
  • Tank & containment lining
  • Conveyor & chute wear lining
  • Ag equipment & livestock buildings
  • Marine & dock structure work
  • Classic vehicle restoration work

What You Would Be Buying and Spraying

Four products cover most of the work an applicator will bid in a year.

OR93BL Polyurea 100% solids aromatic polyurea. Your volume product — 20–120 mil per pass on steel, wood, or concrete. Best margin per square foot on large-area corrosion work.
Flak Jacket 1 (FJ1) The bed liner and deck grade. Higher build and tear strength for surfaces taking impact as well as exposure.
Flak Jacket Pro The premium wear grade. Buckets, chutes, hoppers — the jobs that carry the best margin because almost nobody else can bid them.
7001 Primer Brushable or rollable multi-surface primer. What lets you bid mixed-substrate jobs without walking away from the concrete pad or the wood decking.
Equipment Graco Reactor E-20 or E-30 class proportioner, heated hose, impingement-mix gun. We will help size the rig to the work you actually bid.
Consumption Math 1,604 mil-sq-ft per gallon at 100% solids. At 40 mil that is roughly 40 sq ft per gallon before overspray allowance — price your bids off that number.

The Rig Is the Business

Every applicator learns the same thing in the first year: the material is a commodity decision and the equipment is a business decision. A proportioner that is undersized for your bid mix costs you jobs you cannot finish in the window. One that is oversized costs you capital you needed for a second truck.

The honest version of that conversation starts with what you intend to bid. Bed liners and single-vehicle work run fine on a smaller machine. Metal roofs, tank interiors, and shop contract coating are output-limited, and on those jobs the difference between an E-20 and an E-30 class rig shows up directly in the day rate you can quote.

We will have that conversation before you buy anything. Including the version where the right answer is to subcontract the first few large jobs rather than finance a machine on the strength of one contract.

What we supply is material that behaves predictably through that equipment: stable ratio, consistent viscosity at hose temperature, and a gel window that does not wander mid-drum. Those are the properties that decide whether a shift produces billable square footage or a reshoot.

Where the Margin Actually Is

Most crews that add polyurea start with bed liners because the demand is obvious and the jobs are small enough to learn on. Then they discover that bed liners are also the most competitive work in the category, with the thinnest margin and the highest customer-acquisition cost per job.

The money is in the work almost nobody local can bid.

  • Shop contract coating for fabricators — repeat volume, controlled conditions, scheduled instead of reactive, and priced by the square foot rather than by the unit
  • Plant maintenance overcoating — shutdown work with a hard window, which prices accordingly, and a single-pass product that fits the window when three-coat systems do not
  • Wear lining in Flak Jacket Pro — chutes, hoppers, skirtboards. High material cost, high margin, and very few competitors carrying the grade
  • Metal roof and envelope work — large square footage per mobilization, and the elastomeric argument sells itself against roof paint programs
  • Fleet contracts — recurring, schedulable, and it fills the bays between the reactive work

One rig and one material family covers all of it. That is the real case for adding the capability — not any single job type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

From applicators running rigs, and from crews deciding whether to buy one.

Equipment & Throughput

What size proportioner do I actually need?

Depends entirely on your bid mix. An E-20 class machine handles bed liners, vehicle work, trailer decks, and small maintenance jobs comfortably. If you intend to bid roofs, tank interiors, or shop contract coating, output becomes the binding constraint and you want E-30 class. Tell us the work you are chasing and we will give you a straight recommendation — we do not sell equipment, so we gain nothing by oversizing you.

What production rate can I quote against?

Ask us for figures against your specific machine and DFT rather than working off a brochure number. Spray time is rarely the constraint anyway — masking, prep, and access usually dominate the schedule. When crews miss their day rate it is almost always because masking was underestimated, not because the rig was slow.

What else do I need beyond the proportioner?

Heated hose sized for your realistic parking distance, an impingement-mix gun plus a spare kit, adequate and dry compressed air, generator capacity under actual load, and PPE including supplied air for confined work. The spare gun kit is the item crews skip and then regret on a shutdown job.

Can I run your material through equipment I already own?

If it is a plural-component proportioner with heated hose in the E-20 to E-30 class or equivalent, almost certainly. Send us the make, model, hose length, and gun and we will confirm before you order material rather than after.

Buying & Terms

What does wholesale pricing require?

Tell us your region, your equipment, and rough monthly volume and we will put you on the appropriate schedule. Pricing tiers move with volume, and scheduled supply — material arriving against your job calendar — is available once your consumption is predictable.

How does the material ship, and what about freight?

Kits and drum sets, nationwide. Freight on multi-pallet orders is a real line item and worth pricing into large bids rather than absorbing. Ask us for landed cost to your yard when you request the schedule.

Can I get it under my own brand?

Yes. Every Oak Ridge product is available private-label as WatchGuard, and the sub-lines cover coatings, primer, roof, floor, and foam. Applicators and distributors building their own identity use this regularly.

Do you send work to applicators?

We do. Retail and single-job enquiries arriving through our sites get routed by region to applicators running our material. Get on the list by telling us your coverage area, your rig, and the work you want.

On the Job

The film came out soft and tacky. What happened?

Off-ratio, in nearly every case. Check pressure balance across both sides under trigger — divergence means one side is starving — and verify heat on both A and B. Off-ratio material will not cure out with time; it has to come off and be resprayed. Call us before you put another forty gallons over it.

How do I store A-side so it does not go off?

Sealed, temperature-controlled, and with desiccant on anything opened. A-side is moisture-sensitive and moisture contamination is the most common way applicators write off material. Crystallization in a drum that was left open is not recoverable.

What is the honest weather window?

Better than conventional coatings because the material gels in seconds rather than staying wet for hours, but not unlimited. The substrate must be above dew point and free of condensation, and both component and hose temperature need to hold. Give us your conditions and we will give you a real window rather than a disclaimer.

How do I handle a customer who wants a warranty over rusty steel?

Be explicit in the quote. Full warranty terms require SP6 blast, verified profile, chloride limits, and documented DFT. SP3 overcoating of sound, tight rust is legitimate work with a reduced-warranty note, and it needs to be written into the proposal rather than discussed verbally. Applicators who put that in writing get repeat work.
